Flexible Legal Financing for Family Law Matters

KF Lawyers Australia has proudly partnered with JustFund to offer our clients greater financial independence, particularly through family law litigation funding. For some clients it can be a struggle to afford legal fees and disbursements, and limited access to funding sometimes means the settlement process stalls and clients get stuck. This partnership enables our clients to access the legal assistance they deserve to settle their family law matters and move on with their lives without the burden of immediate financial constraints.

Overview

At KF Lawyers Australia, there is a commitment and dedication to achieving individualised justice and best possible outcomes for clients. KF Lawyers is a prestigious criminal defence and family law firm in NSW founded by the experienced legal advocate and Principal Lawyer, Katrina Favre. She has been a finalist in the Lawyers Weekly Partner of the Year Awards for 2021 and 2022 in both criminal and family law, the Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 Awards for 2021 and 2022 for both criminal and family law, the Lawyers Weekly Women in Law Awards 2021 and 2022 , the Peacemaker Awards for 2021, and also voted as a Criminal Law Rising Star in Doyle's Guide.

Katrina is admitted to practise as an Australian Lawyer in the Supreme Court of NSW and in the High Court of Australia. As such, Katrina appears in both State and Commonwealth Courts to represent clients. She is a member of the Law Society of NSW and also a Committee Member of the Defence Lawyers NSW association. Katrina is also a Nationally Accredited Mediator with the Australian Mediation Association.

Throughout Katrina’s tertiary studies in law, she had a passion and interest in social justice issues. Since graduating from her degree of Bachelor of Laws with Honours, Katrina has enjoyed practising in areas of criminal, family and care and protection law. She has also represented clients in other civil matters such as property disputes, defamation and equitable claims. Many senior lawyers and barristers have been influential role models to Katrina and equipped her with the knowledge and skills she practises today to achieve just outcomes for her clients.

Practising in both areas of criminal law and family law has enabled Katrina to deal with complex matters across both areas of law and achieve great results for clients who find themselves in emotional and stressful situations.

Throughout Katrina’s career, she has assisted many clients charged with complex criminal offences, some of which had simultaneous or forthcoming Family Court proceedings for parenting and property disputes. Katrina has represented clients in drug-related matters, domestic violence-related matters, taxation offences, proceeds of crime, traffic matters, fraud, robberies, sexual and indecent assaults, murders and manslaughter, and firearms offences, amongst other offences. Furthermore, Katrina also appears in the Court of Criminal Appeal in NSW for defence appeals and defending clients in Crown appeals.

Although Katrina practises as a criminal defence lawyer, she equally spends time in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia for parenting, property, and spousal maintenance disputes. She has appeared for parties involved in litigation between States, blended families, and complex asset pools. Being an experienced advocate in many family law matters, Katrina appreciates the value of collaboration and mediation to try resolve disputes in a just and efficient manner. With a view to seeking to achieve the best possible outcome in as little time as possible, Katrina is quick to identify areas of dispute and develop a strategy that assists clients in achieving their end goals.

To maximise individualised justice, Katrina believes it is essential to diligently and carefully pay attention to every detail of a case she handles. Katrina’s clients have been grateful to her taking the time to break down their case and explain the legal process.
